Arnis Muhammad, a 30-year-old mural artist born in conflict-torn Bireun, Aceh, found peace in drawing during his troubled childhood. Post-college, he ventured to Bali and Bandung, but it was in Jakarta where he forged his career. Meeting a Malaysian mural artist in Bali sparked his mission to transform perceptions about Aceh, his birthplace, through art. His project aims to delve into Aceh's history, dispelling misconceptions while expressing his personal ties and inspiring self-identity. Collaborating with the local community, Arnis seeks to redefine Aceh's narrative, challenging stereotypes through his mural art. This journey leads to a December exhibition, showcasing how art can change who we are and how society sees things.
